There’s no denying that stable, well-paid careers for graduates are becoming increasingly hard to come by. Research shows that only around half of graduates are in full-time employment*. Leaving university with an undergraduate degree doesn’t guarantee landing a decent job, never mind a dream job.
That’s why graduate schemes are sought-after. They offer the chance to get on-the-job training and typically a ‘foot in the door’ in companies spanning a wide range of sectors.
At Premier Guarantee, more than 60 part-qualified surveyors, graduates and trainees have become fully chartered with the Chartered Association of Building Engineers (CABE) via our graduate training scheme. We’re looking forward to shaping the next generation of surveyors as we launch another recruitment drive to our popular programme.
An ideal pathway for gaining on-the-job training in a varied career, trainee surveyors will develop skills to prepare them for an exciting vocation that can make a real difference to society.
The two-year programme consists of intensive classroom and distance-based tutorials on construction, technical standards, building regulations and procedures. Throughout the programme trainees will develop skills applicable to a range of buildings from single houses to multi-storey apartment blocks. The programme will teach them how to competently and confidently undertake design assessments and record inspections as well as liaise with construction site staff. A dedicated mentor will guide them through every step in their learning journey.
What it’s like training to become a surveyor
Luke Roberts took part in the graduate training scheme and is now employed as a Senior Risk Management Surveyor at Premier Guarantee. We caught up with him to find out about his experiences on the programme.
