The Office for Product Safety and Standards has issued two prohibition notices and subsequently the British Board of Agrement (BBA) has withdrawn its certificate for Kingspan’s Kooltherm K15 product.
Kingspan was asked to recall all boards that were affected by the issue and to provide notice to anyone using the product. The boards in question are covered by a Declaration of Performance (DOP) dated 2nd August 2021, and manufactured between 1st August 2021 and 18th October 2021.
With effect from 18th February 2022, Premier Guarantee no longer accepts the use of Kingspan Kooltherm K15 on any of our structural warranty schemes or building control projects, until the accreditation is reinstated.
For any new scheme registered with Premier Guarantee or any new plots commencing after this date, alternative products which have appropriate and current third party product conformity certification must be used.
Registered sites which are currently under construction with these insulation boards installed, or are in the process of being installed, should replace these with alternative products where practical to do so. Where it is not practical to do so, or for new plots which are part of an existing block, clients should seek urgent guidance from their building control provider and their risk management surveyor.
If your project has Kooltherm K15 boards installed we will require evidence that they were manufactured before 31st July 2021 and not covered by the DOP dated 2nd August 2021.
Please be assured that our surveyors will work with you to resolve this unfortunate situation. If you have any concerns, please contact your warranty surveyor/building control provider.
