I have been working in Building Control since leaving college.
The range of projects that we deal with are varied and technically challenging. The interaction with design teams who look to us for guidance is rewarding when you feel you have helped and made a difference for the end users of the completed project.
With regards to the introduction of FLOS Building Regulation changes and the revised transitional arrangements, I would advise developers to engage with Building Control at preliminary design stages. Early advice and guidance can help assist in creating a compliant design.

The development features a mix of modern (MMC) and conventional construction methods to provide homes, shops, restaurants and open parkland.
I was inspired by being part of a design team with a customer that shares our values in securing compliant buildings. Seeing the potential of MMC to provide sustainable homes, the regeneration of a town and the provision of a range of facilities to benefit residents was rewarding to work on.

I would like us to expand on the great work within the residential sector and to diversify our workload within both commercial and healthcare sectors, particularly with 'off-site construction' and the possibilities it presents.
